
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police intensified its anti-narcotics drive under “100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan”, arresting 11 drug peddlers in separate operations across Anantnag, Pulwama, Handwara, Baramulla, and Bandipora, and recovering substantial quantities of contraband and cash.
In Anantnag, police arrested three drug peddlers in two operations. At Tulkhan Bridge in Bijbehara, Arif Ahmad Dar of Tulkhan was arrested with 1.269 kg of charas powder. In another operation at Batengoo–Uranhall crossing, Aaqib Fayaz and Mudasir Ahmad were arrested after recovery of 78 grams of charas from their possession and vehicle.
In Pulwama, four drug peddlers were arrested in two separate operations. At Singu Narbal, two individuals on a motorcycle were caught with 7.5 grams of heroin-like substance and Rs 1,500 in cash. In another checkpoint at Rajpora Bridge, two more persons were arrested with 8.5 grams of brown sugar-like substance. Two motorcycles used in the offences were also seized.
In Handwara, police arrested Gh Mohi-u-Din Dar of Waskura during naka checking at Shahlaal Crossing, recovering charas-like substance from his possession.
In Baramulla, two peddlers identified as Danish Ahmad Parrey of Dargam Tilgam and Shabir Ahmad Mir of Kreeri were arrested at Wanigam Payeen. Police recovered 18 grams of charas and 70 tablets of Tapentadol, along with a vehicle used in the offence.
In Bandipora, Suhail Ahmad Dar of Banyari Ajas was arrested with 5.7 kg of charas powder during naka checking at Ajas Sumbal.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations are underway.
JK Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, stating that strict action will continue to be taken to curb the drug menace and protect youth across the Union Territory.
