
The University of Jammu Employees Cricket (Men) Tournament 2026 concluded successfully with an exciting final match, showcasing remarkable sportsmanship, teamwork, and enthusiasm among the university employees.
The tournament, as per a statement, was organised under the aegis of the Campus Sports Committee, University of Jammu, under the visionary leadership and overall supervision of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Chairman, Campus Sports Committee, and Raj Kumar Bakshi, Incharge PTI & Cricket Coach, University of Jammu.
The tournament aimed to promote physical fitness, a healthy work-life balance, and camaraderie among the teaching and non-teaching staff of the University. It provided a vibrant platform for employees from various departments and administrative units to engage in healthy competition while strengthening interpersonal bonds beyond their professional responsibilities.
In the highly anticipated final match, Team J defeated Team F by 9 wickets to lift the championship trophy. Batting first, Team F posted a competitive total of 167 runs in 20 overs. Rajesh top-scored with 48 runs, while Sajan and Munish Sharma contributed 38 and 34 runs respectively. For Team J, Shantul Raina and Gursharan claimed two wickets each.
Chasing the target, Team J produced a dominant batting performance, reaching 173/1 in just 14.1 overs. Shantul Raina starred with a sensational unbeaten knock of 127 runs, studded with 12 sixes and 8 fours, while Deepak Kumar provided valuable support with 38 runs. Shantul Raina was adjudged Player of the Match for his outstanding all-round performance of 127 not out and two wickets.
The trophy and medals were presented by Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Chairman, Campus Sports Committee, University of Jammu, who congratulated the winning team and appreciated the efforts of all participating teams for making the tournament a grand success.
The matches throughout the tournament were efficiently conducted by the officials Vijay Kumar Raina, Ashok Singh, Anirudh Singh, and Raj Kumar Bakshi, whose efforts contributed significantly to the smooth and successful completion.
