
SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday bid farewell to the first batch of Hajj pilgrims from Srinagar International Airport, formally marking the commencement of Haj operations 2026 from Jammu Kashmir.
Interacting with the pilgrims, the Chief Minister extended greetings and wished them a safe and spiritually fulfilling journey. He expressed hope that the pilgrimage would strengthen values of compassion, unity and brotherhood, and prayed for peace, harmony and prosperity in the region.
Officials said three flights carrying 431 pilgrims were scheduled to depart on the first day of operations. A total of 28 flights will operate between April 18 and May 5 to facilitate the annual pilgrimage.
This year, 4,706 pilgrims from Jammu Kashmir are set to perform Haj.
Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, along with senior civil and police officials, members of the JK Haj Committee, airport authorities, and representatives of various departments, were present at the airport during the departure.
