SRINAGAR: The National Conference (NC) legislature party meeting on Wednesday took an unexpected turn after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led party ministers and MLAs to Dachigam National Park for a day-long off-site review and strategy session.

In a letter issued to legislators ahead of the meeting, the Chief Minister had invited them to attend a discussion on matters of public importance scheduled for June 3, 2026, at 10:00 am at Gupkar, Srinagar, stating that attendance was mandatory.

However, after gathering at the Gupkar residence in Srinagar as directed, the legislators were subsequently taken to Dachigam National Park, where deliberations are understood to be continuing in a secluded environment.

Reports also indicated that the visit led to temporary restrictions on tourist movement within parts of the park, with visitors reportedly not being allowed into certain areas during the proceedings.

Officials had earlier made advance arrangements for security, logistics and hospitality at Dachigam in preparation for the off-site session.

Further details regarding the agenda and outcomes of the meeting have not yet been disclosed.
