
The Khaki Association, under the leadership of its President Annu Pasricha organised a Veer Nari Samman Ceremony at Environment Hall, Handwara to honour Veer Naris and families of slain security personnel.
The programme was organised with the support of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Sheikh, while overall event management and coordination were handled by social and peace activist Dr Sheikh Jamsheed.
Around 250 people, including families of martyrs, government officials, civil society members, social activists, youth leaders, media representatives and local residents, attended the event. During the ceremony, 35 families of martyred Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel and six families of Army and CAPF martyrs were felicitated in recognition of their sacrifice and contribution to the nation. Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, Senior Superintendent of Police Kupwara Sahil Sarangal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara Javed Naseem Masoodi, Tehsildar Handwara Zeeshan Khan, DFO Langate Aizaz Panjwari, Bar Association Handwara President Adv Nadeem Majeed Dar, social worker Dr Aabida War, J&K Bank Handwara Branch Head Mohammad Naveed Saraf, Global Youth Foundation President Tauseef Raina and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Annu Pasricha said the organisation remains committed to supporting the families of martyrs and ensuring that their sacrifices are remembered and respected. Dr Sheikh Jamsheed said honouring the families of martyrs is a collective responsibility of society. The organisers said the Khaki Association has been working to strengthen ties between security forces and the people of Jammu and Kashmir through various social, humanitarian and patriotic initiatives, including programmes dedicated to honouring martyrs, supporting Veer Naris and promoting national unity.
