Srinagar, Jan 13: Former State Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Constituency In-charge Habba Kadal Arif Laigroo chaired an organisational meeting of party workers at the PDP Party headquarter to review organisational preparedness, discuss pressing civic issues, and chart out strategy for the upcoming Municipal elections.
The meeting was attended by Zone President Tufail Bhat, Vice Zone President Mohammad Sultan, Ward Presidents Shakeel Ahmed and Nissar Bhat, Organising Secretary Faheem Bhat, Treasurer Ghulam Ahmed, Aqib Farooq, along with several senior workers from different wards of the Habba Kadal constituency, said a party press release.
Addressing the gathering, Laigroo urged party workers to intensify grassroots outreach and prepare proactively for the forthcoming Municipal elections. He emphasised strengthening ward-level structures and maintaining close contact with the people to effectively raise their everyday concerns.
Laigroo lambasted the National Conference–led government for ignoring the plight of Habba Kadal residents. He said that roads and lanes are in shambles, civic amenities are deteriorating, and people are being burdened with exorbitant electricity bills. Criticising the Power Development Department, Laigroo said electricity connections are being snapped due to inflated bills, further compounding the hardships of common people. “Instead of providing relief, the government is penalising residents who are already under severe economic stress,” he remarked.
Reiterating PDP’s commitment to public welfare, Laigroo said the party would continue to stand with the people of Habba Kadal and raise their genuine issues at every forum. The meeting concluded with a resolve to strengthen the party organisation at the grassroots level and ensure effective mobilisation ahead of the Municipal elections.
