SRINAGAR: The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has formally approved the establishment of a new Kendriya Vidyalaya in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, marking a significant expansion of central government school infrastructure in the Union Territory.
According to an official order issued by KVS headquarters in New Delhi, the school is among the 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas sanctioned by the Government of India in December 2024 under the Civil/Defence sector. The new institution falls within the Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency.
The approval follows the successful transfer of identified land by the sponsoring authority in favour of KVS, along with the availability of suitable temporary accommodation—both mandatory preconditions for operationalising new schools under the scheme.
The school will be established at Kowbag in Ramban district (Pin Code: 182144) and is scheduled to become functional from the academic session 2026–27. Initially, classes will be conducted from Grade I to V, with a single section in each class. The institution is expected to expand in subsequent years based on feasibility and approvals.
Authorities have indicated that the admission process will be completed within 30 days after the formalities related to land transfer and temporary accommodation are fully finalised.
The establishment of the Kendriya Vidyalaya in Ramban is expected to improve access to quality central education in the region and cater to the educational needs of local residents as well as children of central government employees.
