
Srinagar, Jun 01: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir has filed a chargesheet before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar against three persons in connection with an alleged land fraud case involving fraudulent sale of a land parcel at Khushipora, HMT, falling on the outskirts of Srinagar city.
According to a CBK statement issued to Alfaaz – The Words, the chargesheet was filed in FIR No. 03/2024 under Sections 420, 468, 167 and 120-B RPC against the accused for their alleged involvement in selling the same parcel of land to multiple buyers through separate registered sale deeds.
The statement said that investigation conducted by the Economic Offences Wing revealed that Mehraj-ud-Din Khanday, son of Ghulam Ahmad Khanday, and Shabir Ahmad Khanday, son of Ghulam Ahmad Khanday, both residents of Khushipora Abanshah Srinagar, in connivance with the then Patwari, who is now deceased, allegedly executed multiple sale deeds for the same piece of land.
Investigators found that fabricated and manipulated revenue records were allegedly used to mislead purchasers and obtain unlawful financial gains, the statement said.
Following completion of investigation, the chargesheet was presented before the court for judicial determination.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch has advised the public to remain cautious against economic frauds and report such incidents to SSP EOW Srinagar, Abdul Waheed Shah. Victims of economic fraud have also been asked to submit complaints through the official email of the Economic Offences Wing at sspeow-kmr@jkpolice.gov.in.
