A big step for safe travel: Electronic Interlocking at Bajalta, some trains cancelled/regulated from 07 to 11 June

Jammu, 06 June 2026: To further strengthen passenger safety and smooth train operations, Northern Railway, Jammu Division is undertaking a major technical upgrade. An advanced Electronic Interlocking system will be commissioned at Bajalta station on the Jammu Tawi – Udhampur section along with BPCL/IOCL/HPCL’s CUF railway siding. In this connection, a Pre-NI/NI block has been taken from 07 June to 11 June 2026.

What will this upgrade achieve?
With Electronic Interlocking, operation of signals and points will become fully computer-controlled. This will make train movement faster, safer and free from human error. Also, the new railway siding being built at Bajalta will further improve fuel supply in Jammu & Kashmir.

Key points of the block:
Location: Bajalta (BLA) station, Jammu Tawi – Udhampur section

Which trains will be affected:
Trains fully cancelled from 8 June to 10 June, including:

  • Train No. 74909, 74910, 74907 etc.
    Train No. 74906 will remain cancelled from 9 June to 11 June.

Trains running late on enroute
Train No. 22461, 14609, 12445, 15656, 12919, 12475 will run late.

Passengers are requested to plan their journey as per train status and check the latest train position before travel through 139 helpline, NTES app or station enquiry. Railway administration expresses regret for the temporary inconvenience, but this work is absolutely necessary for faster, safer and uninterrupted rail service in the future.
