Srinagar, Mar 13: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah offered Jumat-ul-Vida prayers at Dargah Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar. During the prayers, he prayed for lasting peace and prosperity in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and the rest of the country.
Meanwhile, as per KNS, Dr Farooq Abdullah also expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in West Asia, stating that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has led to a shortage of fuel and gas in domestic markets. Speaking after offering Juma’atul Vida prayers at the Hazratbal shrine here, the former chief minister said, “The shortage of fuel and gas is due to the war that is going on. Let us hope and pray that this war ends soon.”
On the occasion, he criticised the authorities in Srinagar for preventing congregational Jumat-Ul-Vida prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta Srinagar, as per a party press release.
Dr Farooq expressed dismay over the gates of the mosque being locked on the auspicious day, saying “the move had hurt the religious sentiments of people who traditionally gather there in large numbers for the occasion.”
