
SRINAGAR: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) in Kishtwar district of Jammu Kashmir has disqualified 16 driving licences of motorists involved in serious traffic violations as part of a drive to curb road offences and improve road safety, officials said on Tuesday.
The action was carried out by the department under the leadership of Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Tasleem Wani, under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma and in compliance with directions issued by Transport Commissioner Jammu and Kashmir Vishesh Paul Mahajan.
Officials said the motorists were found involved in violations including fatal road accidents, dangerous and reckless driving, overloading, using mobile phones while driving, and failing to wear seat belts and helmets, among other breaches of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
The driving licences disqualified include those of Musharaf Ahmed (DL No. JK1720190000675), Akhter Hussain (JK1720150028483), Jarnail Singh (JK1720150029077), Ajaz Hussain (JK1720150028499), Mohammad Imran (JK1720220002582), Mudassir Ahmed (JK1720210000216), Zahid Hussain (JK1720200000606), Muzamil Hussain Shah (JK1720220001237), Danish Ahmed (JK1720200000622), Rajinder Kumar (JK1720220000282), Khalid Hussain (JK1720210001378), Nadim Raja (JK0620090000313), Saqib Ahmed Mir (JK0620200001194), Nasir Hussain (JK1720210000161), Rinku Kumar (JK2020180001173) and Mohd Mirza (JK1720180002030).
The department said the action forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen enforcement of road safety regulations and ensure stricter compliance with traffic laws across the district.
