Thousands Defy Restrictions to Welcome MLA Mehraj Malik in Doda | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Thousands of people on Sunday defied restrictions, including the imposition of Section 163 of the BNSS, and gathered at the Sports Stadium in Doda to welcome MLA Mehraj Malik on his first visit to the town after his release.

Supporters from various parts of the district assembled in large numbers, raising slogans in favour of the legislator and expressing solidarity with him. The stadium and its adjoining areas remained packed as crowds continued to pour in despite administrative curbs.

Authorities had tightened security arrangements in view of the restrictions, with a heavy deployment of police personnel to maintain law and order.

Addressing the gathering, Mehraj Malik thanked the public for their overwhelming support and said he would continue to work for the welfare and development of Doda district.

The significant turnout is being viewed as an important political development, reflecting the MLA’s growing support base in the region.
