Srinagar: The Special Crime Wing Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet in connection with a multi-lakh government job scam before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar, said Crime Branch Kashmir spokesperson in a statement issued here on Friday.

According to the statement, the chargesheet has been filed in FIR No. 09/2019 under Sections 201, 419, 420, 468, 471 and 120-B RPC against Fayaz Ahmad Khan, son of Gul Khan, a resident of Maloora Shalteng Srinagar, Showkat Ahmad Shah, son of Mohammad Yaseen Shah, a resident of Shanzipora Handwara, and Owais Ahmad Rather, son of Assadullah Rather, a resident of Shalteng Khwaja Bagh.

The case, the statement said, originated from a complaint by residents of Pulwama alleging that the accused had collected lakhs of rupees on the pretext of securing government jobs for their children and relatives.

During investigation, it was revealed that the accused, acting in criminal conspiracy, impersonated influential officials and issued forged appointment orders purportedly from the Forest Department, which were later found to be fake. The accused allegedly received payments in cash under the guise of arranging “backdoor entry” into government service.

Crime Branch Kashmir said the investigation established offences related to fraud, forgery and impersonation, following which the challan was presented before the competent court for judicial determination.

The statement further advised the general public to remain vigilant against such fraudsters and urged victims to report such incidents to SSP SCW Kashmir, Crime Branch J&K, or submit complaints through the official email ID provided by the department.
