Second body recovered from power canal in Kangan

Kangan, June 15: Hours after the body of a 20-year female was recovered from the power canal in Gund area of Kangan in Ganderbal district on Monday, another body of a male has been recovered from the canal by the rescue teams who were searching for the duo who had reportedly drowned in the canal.

Officials said the incident occurred in the power canal near Gund area in the Kangan, where two persons reportedly drowned, triggering a major rescue operation. Following the incident, teams from police, SDRF and local volunteers rushed to the spot and launched extensive searches along the canal. After hours of operation, rescuers recovered the body of female from the canal. Meanwhile, search teams continued combing the canal and adjoining areas to locate the second missing person, who has been recovered at a far distance from canal. Both the deceased have been identified as both are residents of Ramwari , Gund areas.

Police Station Gund has initiated proceedings under Section 194 BNSS. The bodies have been shifted to SDH Kangan for medico-legal formalities, while further investigation is underway.
