
SRINAGAR: Police in central kashmir’s Srinagar district on Saturday attached immovable properties worth more than Rs 3.50 crore belonging to three alleged drug peddlers involved in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, as part of the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan’.
Officials said the action was taken under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act after investigations established that the properties had been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking.
In the first operation, police attached property worth nearly Rs 80 lakh belonging to Shahid Mushtaq Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar and a resident of Barthana, Qamarwari, who has been described by officials as a hardcore drug peddler.
In another major action, Police Station Nowgam attached property belonging to Mehraj-ud-Din Ganie, son of Mohammad Ismail Ganie and a resident of Wagoora, who is involved in FIR No. 156/2025 registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Nowgam Police Station.
The attached assets include 18 marlas of land, a single-storeyed residential building and a cowshed situated under Survey No. 273 at Wagoora in Tehsil BK Pora. Officials said the property is valued at approximately Rs 1.50 crore.
Police said investigations revealed that the property had been procured through proceeds of the illegal drug trade, following which it was attached under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.
