SRINAGAR: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA from Pulwama, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, on Sunday appealed to the government and judiciary to consider granting bail to MP Engineer Rashid, whose father is reportedly on ventilator support in critical condition.
As someone who has witnessed the pain of many undertrials and their families suffering, appeal to the government and the court to consider the bail application of MP Er Rashid, whose father is battling for life and on ventilator support.

In a post on X, Parra said he has seen the suffering of undertrial prisoners and their families and called for compassion in the present situation.
He stated that no father should endure the pain of seeing his children suffer due to political circumstances, noting that Er Rashid, despite being an elected MP, remains lodged in Tihar Jail.
Parra added that if courts are unable to take cognisance of such cases involving elected representatives, it raises serious concerns about the justice system and its processes.
Emphasising compassion as a key element of justice, he said it is deeply painful for a son to be unable to meet a dying parent or share final moments, describing it as a suffering “worse than death.”
He further said that political and ideological differences should not prevent families from meeting in moments of critical illness, especially between a father and son.
Parra also remarked that such situations in Kashmir often deepen emotional distress and public resentment, urging authorities to show mercy and consider releasing Er Rashid on humanitarian grounds.
Engineer Rashid, MP from Baramulla, has been in custody since 2019 in connection with an alleged terror funding case.
