SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police intensified its action against illegal mining, seizing 15 vehicles, including tractors, tippers, and a JCB, during coordinated operations in Ganderbal, Anantnag, and Shopian districts.

In Ganderbal, four tractors were seized by police in the Kangan and Gund areas for illegally extracting and transporting minor minerals without valid authorization. The matter was referred to the Geology and Mining Department, which imposed penalties under relevant provisions.

In Anantnag, a police team from Police Station Larnoo intercepted four tippers during the intervening night while they were transporting minor minerals in violation of mining norms. The drivers have been identified and the vehicles seized, with legal action initiated in coordination with the mining authorities.

In Shopian district, police carried out multiple enforcement actions, seizing three tractors during routine patrolling in Imamsahib area, leading to the registration of FIR No. 22/2026. In another operation, one tractor, one JCB, and two additional tractors were seized for illegal mining activities, resulting in FIR Nos. 25/2026 and 26/2026 at Police Station Heerpora.

Police said investigations are underway in all cases, while reaffirming their commitment to curb illegal extraction of natural resources and ensure strict legal action against violators.
