SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Sopore have attached immovable property belonging to a proclaimed offender linked with the banned outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.

The action was taken in connection with FIR No. 02/2008 registered at Police Station Panzalla under Sections 2/3 of the E and IMCO Act. The accused has been identified as Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Bhat, a resident of Rohama Rafiabad.

Police said investigations established that the accused had illegally crossed over to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to receive arms and ammunition training and is associated with the Hizbul Mujahideen terror organisation. He is presently believed to be operating from Pakistan in coordination with the outfit’s network.

Acting on court orders, police in coordination with the Revenue Department attached land measuring six marlas at Daengrut Rohama and 10 marlas at Reshinar Rohama, valued at several lakh rupees. The accused had been evading arrest for a prolonged period and was declared a proclaimed offender under Section 88 CrPC.

The attachment proceedings were carried out after due verification of revenue records and local inquiry, in the presence of revenue officials and independent witnesses.

Jammu and Kashmir Police stated that the action forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terror networks, disrupt their ecosystem and take strict legal measures against individuals involved in activities posing a threat to national security. They reiterated their commitment to continue action against those involved in terrorism, terror financing, harbouring militants or supporting banned organisations.
