During a visit to the incident site, Sadhotra interacted with local residents and described the tragedy as deeply distressing, highlighting the risks faced by workers engaged in construction activities. He conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for strength for them to endure the loss.

He acknowledged the prompt response of rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, Civil Defence personnel, and the district civil and police administration. He said their coordinated efforts ensured swift rescue operations and facilitated the evacuation of one survivor.

Raising concerns over possible safety lapses, Sadhotra stressed the need for strict adherence to construction safety norms. He called the incident a wake-up call for authorities and agencies to enforce safety protocols rigorously, adding that protection of human life must remain the top priority. He also urged regular monitoring and inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects.

Sadhotra welcomed the announcement by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah regarding a time-bound inquiry into the incident, expressing hope that responsibility would be fixed promptly and action taken against those found negligent. He said accountability was essential to ensure justice and prevent recurrence of such incidents.

Highlighting the condition of affected families, he demanded adequate compensation and ex gratia relief for the next of kin of the deceased. He also called for proper medical care for the injured labourer and wished for a speedy recovery.

Reiterating concerns for labour welfare, Sadhotra said workers involved in development projects must be ensured safe working conditions and dignity in their livelihoods, urging all stakeholders to act responsibly to prevent further loss of life.
