SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Haji Mohammad Sultan Mir, father of senior police officer DIG Imtiyaz Hussain Mir.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. He also prayed for strength and fortitude for the family to bear the irreparable loss.
“The demise of a parent is an immense personal loss that leaves a deep void in the lives of family members and loved ones,” the Chief Minister said, expressing solidarity with the family during the difficult time of grief.
Haji Mohammad Sultan Mir, a resident of Iskanderpora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, passed away at the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, on Thursday after a brief illness, family sources said.
Family members said he breathed his last at the hospital earlier in the day, where he had been undergoing treatment. He was later laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in his native village amid a large gathering of mourners.
Funeral prayers were led by prominent cleric Agha Syed Muhammad Hadi al Musawi.
DIG Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, a decorated 1999-batch Jammu and Kashmir Police Service officer, is currently serving as Director of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in Kashmir.
