Srinagar, June 3: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday clarified that Dachigam National Park remains open to visitors and that no restrictions have been imposed on entry to the protected area, dismissing reports suggesting otherwise.

In an official clarification, the government said the statement was issued in response to claims circulating about the closure of the national park on June 3.

“It is clarified that entry for all visitors to Dachigam National Park remains completely open as per the usual procedure. No restrictions have been imposed by the government regarding entry to the park for today, June 3,” the statement said.

The authorities urged the public not to pay heed to unverified information and advised visitors to follow the standard protocols applicable for entry into the park.

The clarification comes amid reports that the park was out of bounds for visitors due to a meeting being held at the resort by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with National Conference legislators and independent MLAs supporting the government.
