SRINAGAR: The government on Wednesday clarified that Dachigam National Park remains open to visitors under routine procedures, rejecting claims that public entry had been restricted in view of a meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with National Conference ministers and MLAs inside the park.

The clarification came amid reports suggesting that public access to the park was suspended on June 3 due to the high-level political gathering.

In an official statement, authorities said no such restrictions have been imposed and that visitors continue to be allowed entry to Dachigam National Park in accordance with standard guidelines.

“Entry for all visitors remains completely open as per the standard procedure. No government directive has been issued restricting access to the park today,” the statement said.

The administration urged the public to disregard unverified reports and to continue adhering to established protocols while visiting the national park.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with several National Conference ministers and legislators, is holding a day-long off-site review and strategy session at Dachigam National Park. The meeting is currently underway, while its agenda and outcomes have not yet been disclosed.
