Reports stated that the project would be an extension of a survey conducted for Delhi-Amritsar high speed rail corridor.

Notably the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) in November 2025, as per reports, had invited bid for the final alignment design, including Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) survey and other related works for Amritsar-Jammu high speed rail corridor, spanning around 240 kms distance.

This will facilitate the operation of the bullet train, covering the distance between two significant cities of Amritsar and Jammu in two hours.

Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, recently while speaking to media, had asserted that following the successful operation of Vande Bharat Express to Kashmir, J&K would soon witness further enhanced connectivity after the completion of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway.

“Following it, the high-speed rail corridor would give a substantial boost to the connectivity in J&K, adding new dimensions to the development process,” Dr Jitendra had said.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Railway Division, Uchit Singhal, however, when asked about the latest status of this project, stated, “On this account, there is no update available with us, as of now.”
