Five Drug Peddlers Arrested Across Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested five alleged drug peddlers in Baramulla and Budgam districts, recovering contraband substances and seizing two vehicles used in the crimes.

According to officials, police set up checkpoints at Wussan and Chichlora crossings in Baramulla following credible inputs. At Wussan, a Wagon-R vehicle (registration number DL6CL-4065) was intercepted with three persons onboard. A search led to the recovery of 19 grams of heroin-like substance. The accused were identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Magray, son of Bashir Ahmad Magray, Furkaan Ahmad Lone, son of Manzoor Ahmad Lone, and Danish Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Shamim Lone, all residents of Merchipora Tangmarg. The trio was arrested, and the vehicle was seized.

At Chichlora crossing, police intercepted another individual, identified as Vinod Kumar, son of Ram Lal, a resident of Rawsar, Rajasthan, presently residing in Qamarwari Barthana, Srinagar. A search of his belongings yielded 46 grams of charas-like substance, and he was arrested on the spot.

In a separate operation in Budgam, police at a checkpoint in Durbugh Crossing intercepted a Mahindra Thar (registration number DL4CNA7913) driven by Mohammad Ashraf Nath, son of Mohammad Ismail Nath of Parnew, Wazir Bagh, Budgam. Contraband substances were recovered from his possession, leading to his arrest and seizure of the vehicle.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations, and further investigations are underway.
