SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has sanctioned the organisation of the first International Film Festival of Jammu Kashmir (IFFJK), which will be held at SKICC Srinagar and other venues from September 7 to 11, 2026, officials said on Wednesday.

The festival will be organised by the Directorate of Information Public Relations (DIPR), Jammu Kashmir, in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).

Officials said the event will bring together filmmakers, producers, directors, actors, critics and other stakeholders from India and abroad. It will include film screenings, panel discussions, master classes, interactive sessions, cultural programmes and networking opportunities.

According to officials, the festival is intended to promote Jammu and Kashmir as a destination for film production, cultural exchange and tourism, while also providing exposure to local talent and opportunities for emerging filmmakers.

The initiative is expected to facilitate collaboration between regional and international film industries and support the development of the creative sector in the Union Territory.

The maiden edition of the IFFJK is expected to contribute to tourism promotion, youth engagement and economic activity linked to the film industry.
