SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday hit back at opposition criticism over the meeting convened with National Conference legislators, saying those speculating about the discussions were the least informed about its purpose.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said those aware of the details of the meeting had chosen to remain silent, while those speaking the most were sitting in the opposition. He made the remarks amid mounting political speculation over the agenda of the meeting called with NC MLAs.

The Chief Minister’s comments came shortly after Leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Sharma questioned the intent behind the meeting and alleged that Omar Abdullah would not relinquish any position even if Jammu and Kashmir’s constitutional status was further altered.

Sharma had claimed that the National Conference leadership was more focused on retaining power and official protocol than safeguarding constitutional interests.

Omar Abdullah’s remarks are being viewed as a direct rebuttal to the opposition’s assertions and the speculation surrounding the proposed interaction with party legislators.
