SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said a fresh survey has identified over five lakh houseless and landless families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) across the Union Territory.
Replying to an unstarred question tabled by Waheed ur Rehman Para, the government said 5,02,930 eligible families have been identified through the Awaas+ 2024 survey conducted as part of PMAY-G 2.0.
The government informed the House that district-wise details of houseless families and beneficiaries provided land or financial assistance for construction of houses have been compiled and placed as annexures.
It said a fresh verification exercise has been carried out to identify families left out during earlier surveys conducted under previous phases of the scheme.
To ensure wider coverage, authorities are facilitating land for eligible landless beneficiaries in coordination with the revenue department, following due verification under scheme guidelines.
The government also said regular monitoring and review meetings are being held at the Union Territory, district and block levels to expedite implementation and ensure timely completion of housing units.
It added that timelines for universal coverage of all eligible beneficiaries are being followed as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Rural Development.(KNS)
