Union Health Minister Honours GMC Anantnag Principal for Exemplary Services | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Principal and Dean of Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, Prof Dr Rukhsana Najeeb, has been honoured with an appreciation award by Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda in recognition of her outstanding and exemplary services in promoting affordable healthcare and strengthening the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana.

The award was presented during a ceremony held in New Delhi on the occasion of Jan Aushadhi Diwas. The event was attended by several dignitaries including Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel as Guest of Honour and Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals Manoj Joshi as Special Guest.

According to the official invitation sent to the Principal Medical College (PMC) office of GMC Anantnag, the Jan Aushadhi Kendra operating under the college — PMBJK09614 — was selected among the top four Kendras in the country for achieving the highest purchase figures, reflecting its significant contribution in making quality medicines available at affordable prices.

The invitation noted that the recognition was being conferred to acknowledge the institution’s dedication and consistent efforts in furthering the government’s vision of accessible and cost-effective medicines for all sections of society.

The award ceremony, held in connection with the nationwide celebrations of Jan Aushadhi Diwas, highlighted the role of Jan Aushadhi Kendras in expanding the reach of generic medicines and reducing healthcare expenses for the common people.

Meanwhile, soon after the news of the honour reached the official WhatsApp group of GMC Anantnag, faculty members, doctors, and staff members flooded the platform with congratulatory messages. Many described the achievement as a matter of pride for the entire medical fraternity and staff of GMC Anantnag, acknowledging Prof Dr Rukhsana Najeeb’s leadership and commitment to public healthcare services.
