
Jammu, Feb 17: Two Pakistani nationals, who were among three inmates who escaped from R S Pura Observation Home in Jammu after assaulting and injuring two on duty Police personnel on Monday (February 16) evening, were apprehended from Ambala on Tuesday.
However, the duo’s accomplice and the third inmate – a local gangster, was still at large and the manhunt continued to trace him.
These three inmates namely Karanjeet Singh alias Gugga (local gangster), son of Arjun Singh, resident of Dablehar, R S Pura and two Pakistani nationals- Ahsan Anwar, son of Mohd Anwar, resident of Nankana Sahib, Punjab, Pakistan and Mohd Sanaullah, son of Mohd Zaffer, resident of Basti Jawewala, tehsil Dinpur, district Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Pakistan on Monday evening at about 5.15 pm escaped from the Observation Home, R S Pura, after attacking and injuring two on duty police men.
Police personnel, identified as SPO Vinay Choudhary and Head Constable Praveen Kumar sustained injuries when they tried to intervene among these “fighting” inmates lodged in the Observation Home.
The trio, who had staged a fake fight, assaulted the Police personnel and fled from the spot.
Though no official statement was issued by Jammu and Kashmir Police yet the reports revealed that they were arrested from Ambala railway premises by the STF teams of Haryana Police on Tuesday. Following their arrest, they were handed over to the JKP.
Police had sounded a high alert after the trio escaped from Observation Home to apprehend them and had even intimated their counterparts in the neighbouring states. Meanwhile, six Police personnel too have been suspended in this case.
Earlier, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh had assured inquiry and action in case of negligence or involvement of Police personnel proved in the incident.
The trio, reportedly, had also opened fire from a pistol besides assaulting the Police personnel on guard duty to manage their escape.
Following it, the Police registered a case FIR Number 39/2026 under Sections 109, 132, 262, 307, 111 of the BNS Act and 3/25 Arms Act at R S Pura Police Station and constituted special teams to conduct raids to apprehend them.
