
Srinagar, Feb 4: To review the progress and latest status of solarisation of government buildings in the district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo on Wednesday convened a meeting of concerned Engineers of JAKEDA and KPDCL here at the DC Office complex.
The DC took a detailed stock of the solarisation of government buildings in the district by the concerned agencies aimed to reduce dependence on conventional power sources, promote clean energy generation and lower electricity expenditure of government establishments.
The DC was apprised of the latest status regarding the total number of government buildings identified for installation of rooftop solar systems, material received, and installations completed at various sites. It was informed that 684 government buildings have been identified for solarisation, out of which 548 buildings have been covered so far, while the remaining buildings are scheduled to be covered by March 2026.
On the occasion, the DC stressed the need to further expedite the solarisation process and directed the concerned agencies to ensure completion of the remaining works within the stipulated timeline.
The DC also directed the District Statistics and Evaluation Officer (DSEO) to complete the physical verification of solarised government buildings by end of February 2026.
The neeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahamd Dar, Engineers of KPDCL and JAKEDA and other concerned Officers.
