SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has largely remained dry, with no major rain or snowfall recorded across the Union Territory, except in a few higher-altitude areas, according to the latest weather assessment.
Independent forecaster, Kashmir Weather, said that light snowfall or rain was reported in select locations, including Tulail Valley, Razdan Top, Machil, Sadhna Top, and along the Sonamarg–Drass axis, while the plains and most other regions experienced dry conditions, in line with earlier forecasts.
Over the next 12 hours, there remains a possibility of light rain or snow showers in some areas as the trailing part of the current Western Disturbance gradually exits the region by evening. However, the precipitation, if any, is expected to be of low intensity and limited in coverage.
Meteorological indicators at present do not suggest the arrival of any strong or active Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir in the next 10 to 15 days. Weather experts said this points towards a continued dry spell across much of the region, with only sporadic and weak weather activity confined to higher reaches.
The forecast has been issued by an independent weather observer, who advised residents and travellers, especially in hilly and border areas, to remain alert for brief spells of light snowfall or rain but ruled out any major weather disruption in the near term.
