SRINAGAR: Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district sealed an unlicensed medical store in the Amargarh area of Sopore during a special enforcement drive under the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, officials said.
The action was taken in coordination with the Drugs Control Department during a checking operation, where the establishment was found operating without a valid drug licence, in violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
Officials said the premises were sealed on the spot by the Drug Inspector, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the proprietor under relevant provisions of law.
Police said strict action will continue against illegal sale of medicines and unlicensed pharmacies, reiterating that no such establishments will be allowed to operate in the district.
The public has been advised to purchase medicines only from authorised and licensed chemists. Authorities further reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying enforcement measures under the anti-drug campaign to curb drug misuse and promote public health.
