The Jammu and Kashmir Chapter of the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) conferred the prestigious “Green Ambassador of Kashmir Award” on Faiz Ahmad Bakshi during its 3rd bi-monthly meeting held at Hotel Palm Spring here.

Bakshi, a veteran hotelier and prominent figure in the region’s tourism sector, currently serves as Secretary General of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is also the convenor of the Environmental Policy Group and has held key positions across various tourism and trade bodies over the years.

The award was presented in recognition of his sustained efforts towards environmental conservation, particularly his role in promoting tree plantation initiatives aimed at increasing the Valley’s green cover.

Members of the travel and tourism fraternity who attended the meeting praised Bakshi’s contribution, noting that his work reflects a strong commitment to balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility.

TAFI J&K representatives said the “Green Ambassador of Kashmir Award” is aimed at recognising individuals who have made meaningful contributions to ecological preservation and inspiring wider community participation in sustainable practices.
