Srinagar: Intensifying its campaign against narcotics trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, Srinagar Police on Saturday attached immovable properties worth around Rs 3.5 crore linked to alleged drug smugglers.

According to a statement, Police Station Sangam carried out the action under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 56/2025 registered under Sections 8, 20 and 29 of the Act.

The attached assets include two double-storey residential houses, each along with one kanal of land, located in Kreshbal, Noorbagh area of Srinagar. One property, belonging to accused Shakeel Ahmad Ganie, son of Abdul Satar Ganie, is valued at over Rs 2 crore. The second property, owned by accused Farooq Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rehman Mir, is estimated at approximately Rs 1.5 crore.

Police said the properties were identified as illegally acquired assets generated through proceeds of drug trafficking.

The action forms part of a broader strategy aimed at dismantling narcotics networks by targeting financial gains derived from illicit activities. Officials said such measures are intended to deter individuals involved in drug trade and disrupt the economic backbone of trafficking operations.

Srinagar Police urged the public to cooperate and share information related to drug trafficking, reiterating its commitment to combating the menace by not only arresting offenders but also confiscating assets built through unlawful means.
