Srinagar, May 30: Senior photojournalist Aabid Nabi of Daily Excelsior has been awarded the prestigious Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Commendation Card in recognition of his contribution to journalism and media coverage in Kashmir.
The commendation was presented by General Anil Chauhan during a ceremony held in New Delhi.
Aabid Nabi was honoured for his extensive field reporting and photographic documentation of developments across Kashmir over the years, particularly from frontier and sensitive areas of north Kashmir. He has remained associated with coverage of public issues, security developments, civic concerns, and humanitarian situations in the Valley.
The CDS Commendation Card is awarded for distinguished service, devotion to duty, and notable contributions in different fields, including to select civilians associated with public service and national institutions.
Members of the media fraternity in Jammu and Kashmir welcomed the recognition, describing it as a significant honour for journalism from the region and an acknowledgment of the role played by photojournalists in documenting events on the ground.
Nabi has previously received recognition for his journalistic and photographic work, including honours for coverage related to frontier districts and public interest reporting in Kashmir.
