PSA warrant executed against woman involved in multiple anti-national cases in Baramulla, Police say

Srinagar, Jun 03: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that a woman from Baramulla district has been detained under the Public Safety Act in connection with multiple cases linked to alleged anti-national activities.

According to a police statement, the detention warrant under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act, 1978, was executed against Haseena Begum, wife of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, a resident of Sheeri in Narvaw tehsil of Baramulla district.

Police said the detention order was issued by the District Magistrate Baramulla vide Order No. 07/DMB/PSA/2026 dated May 30, 2026, following what it described as a detailed assessment of her alleged involvement in activities considered prejudicial to the security of the Union Territory.

The statement said the woman was allegedly involved in multiple criminal cases registered at different police stations. These include FIR No. 281/2019 under Sections 13 of UAPA, 153-A and 506 RPC at Police Station Handwara, FIR No. 58/2021 under Section 426 IPC, Section 4 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and Section 3 of the Sabotage Act at Police Station Handwara, FIR No. 151/2021 under Sections 13, 23 and 39 of UAPA and Section 506 IPC at Police Station Bandipora, and FIR No. 58/2022 under Sections 436 and 307 IPC at Police Station Sopore.

Police said investigations in these cases allegedly revealed her association with anti-national elements and involvement in activities aimed at disturbing public order and security.

Following the execution of the PSA warrant, the woman was taken into preventive custody and lodged at District Jail Bhaderwah under security arrangements, the statement said.

Police said the action reflects its continued efforts to act against individuals allegedly involved in activities considered detrimental to peace and security in the region.
