Handwara, May 04: In a continued crackdown against narcotics under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, Handwara Police attached a residential property allegedly renovated using proceeds of drug trafficking, officials said on Monday.

“The double-storeyed house belongs to Ali Mohammad Mir of Rajpora in Zachaldara tehsil. Investigations established that the property had been upgraded through funds generated from illicit narcotics trade,” officials said.

“The property, assessed at around Rs 30 lakh, was attached under Section 68-F(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.”

Officials said the accused is involved in FIR No. 14/2023 registered under Sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Handwara. The case is presently under trial before a court of law.

The attachment, officials said, is part of sustained efforts by police to dismantle drug networks and deprive offenders of assets created through illegal activities
