SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday flagged off the first group of 120 youths from the Kashmir Division under the Kashmiri Youth Exchange Programme, Watan Ko Jaano, aimed at promoting national integration and youth empowerment.
The programme, sponsored by the Ministry of Home Affairs and implemented by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) Jammu and Kashmir under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, is a flagship initiative of the Government of India.
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor interacted with the participating youths and conveyed his best wishes for their journey.
The sixth edition of the programme will involve around 2,000 participants, including group leaders, drawn from across the Kashmir Valley. The youths will travel in multiple groups to 15 major cities across the country.
Officials said the initiative seeks to provide young people from Kashmir with first-hand exposure to India’s cultural, industrial and historical diversity, enabling them to act as ambassadors of peace and harmony.
