SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested six drug peddlers in separate operations across Anantnag, Shopian, and Awantipora, recovering substantial quantities of contraband substances under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

In Anantnag, Police Post Janglatmandi intercepted three individuals during naka checking at Ashajipora, recovering 2.242 kg of cannabis powder from their possession. The accused were identified as Arshid Ahmad Wani and Muzaffar Ahmad Mir, both residents of Batengoo, and Mohd Rafiq Sofi of Zadoora Mirbazar.

In a separate operation at Danwathpora, Kokernag Police apprehended Ali Mohd Mochi of Buchoo, recovering 8 kg of charas powder-like substance from a nylon bag in his possession.

In Shopian, Police Station Imamsahib intercepted Gowhar Ahmad Wani of DK Pora at Manihal Crossing and recovered 4.340 kg of charas-like substance.

Meanwhile, in Awantipora, Police Post Toll Plaza arrested Bilal Ahmad Bhat of Batipora Chersoo during checking at Katipora Chersoo and recovered approximately 131 grams of charas powder-like substance. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Police Station Awantipora.

All accused have been arrested, and cases have been registered at respective police stations. Further investigations are underway to trace the wider network involved in drug trafficking.

JK Police reiterated its commitment to combating the drug menace and urged the public to share information regarding drug peddling and illegal activities.
