
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday arrested nine drug peddlers in coordinated operations across Anantnag, Sopore and Awantipora, recovering heroin, charas and psychotropic substances in multiple naka and search operations.
In Anantnag district, police arrested five individuals during separate naka checking operations. At Hangulgund Kokernag, Nazir Ahmad Dar of Bumdoora was apprehended with 7.84 grams of heroin-like substance. In Dooru, two persons travelling in a Tavera vehicle were arrested with 5.91 grams of brown sugar-like substance. At Harnag Crossing, two more individuals were arrested with two grams of heroin-like contraband.
In Sopore, police conducted a search at Shah Faisal Market in connection with FIR No. 89/2026, recovering psychotropic substances including Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus, Pregabalin and Nortriptyline tablets, along with unsealed codeine-like bottles and brown sugar-like substance from a crockery shop. The shop owner was arrested. In a separate naka checking at Wagub Crossing, another individual was arrested with Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus tablets.
In Awantipora, police arrested two drug peddlers in separate operations. Acting on specific information, a raid at Renzipora led to the recovery of 340 grams of charas powder-like substance and the arrest of the accused. In another naka checking at Khar Mohd, a man was arrested with approximately 55 grams of charas powder and 16 grams of charas.
Cases have been registered under relevant provisions of law at respective police stations and further investigation is underway.
Police said the operations reflect its continued zero-tolerance approach towards narcotics and urged the public to share information related to drug trafficking to support enforcement efforts.
