SRINAGAR: The Higher Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has enabled tentative college allotment and indicative cut-off trends on its admission portal to help applicants make informed choices ahead of the final seat allocation for undergraduate admissions for the 2026–27 academic session.
The department said the tentative allotment and cut-off trends, available on the admission portal, have been generated using current application data and are presently based on General/Open Merit figures.
Officials clarified that the displayed trends are purely indicative and intended only to provide applicants with an estimate of likely competition across various programmes and colleges.
Applicants across all categories, including reserved categories, have been advised to carefully review their preferences and make necessary modifications before the final locking and allocation process.
The department has urged candidates to include a wider range of eligible programme preferences, opt for choices across multiple colleges and universities, avoid restricting themselves to a few highly competitive programmes, and arrange their preferences in a clear order of priority.
The Directorate of Colleges stated that the provisional cut-offs do not guarantee admission and may change depending on several factors, including category-wise seat distribution, number of applicants in each category, preference revisions, seat upgradation or withdrawal, document verification, merit ranking, tie-breaking rules, university-specific policies and subsequent administrative decisions.
It also clarified that the final allotment list has not yet been released, and the admission authority reserves the right to revise cut-offs, seat matrices, policies or allotment outcomes at any stage without prior notice.
Director Colleges Jammu Kashmir, Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, advised applicants to treat the trends as a guidance tool and accordingly broaden and reprioritise their preferences.
He also encouraged students to make use of the Course Explorer facility available on the Directorate’s website and seek assistance from Counselling and Facilitation Centres established at colleges across Jammu and Kashmir.
Applicants have also been asked to follow the official WhatsApp channel for Admissions 2026–27, linked on the admission portal, for regular updates.
