Jammu Kashmir Girl Scales Mount Everest with ITBP All-women Team | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Anjali Devi, a personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) from Sunkhal village in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, has successfully scaled Mount Everest as part of the force’s first all-women mountaineering expedition.

The team reached the summit at 8,843 metres, where Anjali unfurled the National Flag, marking a significant achievement for the paramilitary force and a moment of pride for her native village.

The expedition was conducted by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, with the all-women team completing the historic ascent in challenging high-altitude conditions.

Her father, Balwant Singh, said the family and entire village were proud of her accomplishment, adding that it was the result of years of discipline, dedication and rigorous training.

Anjali had earlier taken part in a 7,135-metre peak expedition in 2025 under ITBP training programmes. She also won the Walong Half Marathon (21 km) the same year, reflecting her endurance and sporting credentials.

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh congratulated the ITBP all-women expedition team for the achievement. In a social media post, he said Indian women are redefining “Nari Shakti” on the global stage and highlighted Anjali Devi’s role in the landmark success.
