
SRINAGAR: Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Suhail Qasim Mir, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, has been transferred to a new posting in Punjab.
According to official orders, Mir, who was serving as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amritsar Rural, has been posted as Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Personnel-I at Punjab Police Headquarters in Chandigarh.
A 2017-batch IPS officer, Mir has served in several key assignments in Punjab and is regarded as an accomplished officer with extensive field experience.
During his tenure as SSP Amritsar Rural, he led several focused operations against drug trafficking and cross-border smuggling networks, earning recognition for his firm policing approach.
Prior to heading Amritsar Rural, Mir held charge of several other districts in Punjab in different capacities. His latest transfer is being seen as part of the routine administrative reshuffle in the state police.
