
SRINAGAR: In the annual administrative reshuffle, Syed Haamid Bukhari, an officer of the Indian Corporate Law Service, has been appointed as Registrar of Companies (ROC) for the Union Territories of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
According to official sources, Bukhari, a 2016 UPSC Civil Services Examination qualifier, is a native of Jammu and Kashmir and is among the younger officers to be assigned charge at the UT-level ROC office.
He holds a management degree from the Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora, a postgraduate qualification in Business and Allied Laws from the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, and a Master’s degree in Politics and International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
With over eight years of service in the Government of India under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, he has worked in Srinagar and New Delhi in various roles, including Deputy ROC Srinagar. In that capacity, he contributed to operationalising the MCA field office in Kashmir after 2019. He has also served as Deputy Official Liquidator attached to the High Court of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh.
Currently posted in the Northern Directorate of the Ministry, he is engaged in corporate governance, enforcement, inspections, investigations, and regulatory compliance functions.
A resident of Waliwar area of Lar tehsil in Ganderbal district, Bukhari is also noted as the first member from the Pahari community of Kashmir to clear the UPSC Civil Services Examination (2016).
