Bulldozer justice against drug mafia: Gaurav backs massive crackdown under ‘Nasha Mukt J&K’ Drive

JK News Today

Jammu, April 18: BJP spokesperson and Convenor International Affairs Gaurav Gupta today strongly endorsed the sweeping anti-drug crackdown across Jammu and Kashmir under Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s ‘100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan’, asserting that the administration has “declared an all-out war” on the drug mafia and its entire ecosystem.

Gupta said the situation on the ground clearly reflects a shift from routine enforcement to decisive, punitive and highly visible action, which is directly targeting the financial and physical infrastructure of narcotics networks. He pointed to the recent bulldozer action in Jammu’s Nikki Tawi area, where in a joint operation, authorities demolished properties worth crores belonging to notorious drug peddler Shamp Din , calling it a landmark step in dismantling the economic backbone of the drug trade.

He further highlighted that another residential structure of a drug peddler Abdul Hamid alias Midhu was also razed in the same area, reinforcing the message that those destroying youth through drugs will face total collapse. “This is not symbolic action. This is the complete dismantling of the drug mafia’s infrastructure brick by brick,” Gupta said, adding that such action has created panic among traffickers who once operated freely.

Referring to wider enforcement across the Union Territory, Gupta said the crackdown has intensified in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions, with major arrests including notorious kingpin Gulzar Ahmed alias Lau Gujjar, who had been absconding for decades, exposing deep-rooted cross-border narco links. He added that police have simultaneously increased seizures of narcotics, busted supply chains, and identified grassroots networks to ensure no link in the chain survives.

Significantly, he noted that from April 11, J&K Police launched a relentless crackdown in Jammu division, during which more than 45 FIRs were registered and 63 smugglers were arrested between April 11 and 15, along with massive drug recoveries. Regular checking drives have now been expanded to schools, pharmacies, and drug agencies, with the Lieutenant Governor stating that the drive will continue relentlessly.

He also pointed out that cases registered before April 11 have witnessed a three-fold increase in the last seven days, reflecting the scale and intensity of the ongoing operation against drug networks.

Gupta emphasized that what makes the current campaign unprecedented is the systematic targeting of illicit wealth, where properties are being attached, bank accounts frozen, and financial lifelines choked. “The message is clear—if you poison our youth, your wealth, your houses, your entire empire will be wiped out,” he said.

He further described the drive as a transformational shift in governance, where enforcement is intelligence-driven, proactive, and uncompromising. He credited LG Manoj Sinha’s leadership for empowering agencies to act without restraint against narcotics networks.

“This is a decisive battle to reclaim society from drugs. The bulldozers in Jammu, the arrests of kingpins, and the seizure of properties together signal one thing—there will be no safe haven for the drug mafia in Jammu and Kashmir,” Gupta asserted.

He added that the campaign is not just a law-and-order drive but a mission to protect future generations, restore social order, and ensure a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir as the administration continues its relentless offensive against narco networks.
