Five arrested, including two women in Marwah women murder case

Ramban June 08: Kishtwar Police have arrested five persons, including two women, in connection with the alleged murder of a woman in the Marwah area of Kishtwar district.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Naresh Singh, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Marwah on June 7 at around 2:30 pm by Gulam Ahmad, son of Ghulam Mohammad Magray, a resident of Pethgam Marwah. In his complaint, he alleged that his wife, Zaina Begum, was beaten to death by several individuals from the same locality.

Acting on the complaint, Police Station Marwah registered FIR No. 05/2026 under Sections 103, 126(2), 191(2), 351(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and initiated an investigation.

The accused have been identified as Ghulam Haider Malik; Zahoor Ahmad Malik; Imtiyaz Ahmad Malik; Shahina Begum; and Sara Begum, all residents of Pethgam Marwah. Police said that another accused, Muzaffar Ahmad Malik, fled from the spot and efforts are underway to apprehend him at the earliest.

A special team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Marwah carried out the operation and secured the arrests shortly after the case was registered.

After completion of medico-legal formalities and postmortem examination, the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for the last rites.

SSP Singh stated that further investigation is in progress and all angles of the case are being thoroughly examined. He reiterated that Kishtwar Police are committed to ensuring justice and taking strict legal action against those involved in the crime.
