
Bandipora, June 07: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch J&K, has filed a chargesheet against two accused for allegedly using fraudulent means, including cheating and forged documents, to secure extensions in service, officials said on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, son of Mohammad Jawad Bhat, and Assadullah Bhat, son of Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, both residents of Rakhi Shilwat, Sumbal, District Bandipora, were charesheeted in FIR No. 05/2026 under Sections 420, 468, and 471 RPC before the Hon’ble Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Sumba
“Investigation found that the accused concealed their educational qualifications, falsely claimed illiteracy, and obtained altered dates of birth through fraudulent certificates. This led to incorrect service records and unlawful extension of service tenure. They gained undue financial benefits, causing loss to the State exchequer. The chargesheet has been filed before the Court,” an EOW spokesperson said in a p[ress statement.
Thestatement advised the general public to remain vigilant against economic fraud and report any such incidents to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, Crime Branch J&K.
