CM Omar Reviews Budget Implementation, Orders Faster Execution of Welfare Measures | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday chaired the second round of review meetings at the Civil Secretariat to assess progress on Budget announcements for 2026–27 and directed departments to expedite implementation of welfare measures across Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chief Minister stressed the need for timely execution of Budget commitments, improved inter-departmental coordination and strict adherence to implementation timelines to ensure that benefits reach the public without delay.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Ministers Sakina Itoo, Javed Rana, Javid Dar and Satish Sharma, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dheeraj Gupta, administrative secretaries, senior Finance Department officials and heads of departments.

At the outset, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Shailendra Kumar briefed the meeting on the status of various Budget announcements and presented progress reports submitted by departments under different grants.

Administrative Secretaries informed the Chief Minister about the measures taken by their departments towards implementation of Budget proposals and the progress achieved so far.

Departments that presented their progress reports included Revenue, Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, Tourism, Forest, Labour and Employment, Higher Education, Rural Development, Youth Services and Sports, Transport, Tribal Affairs, DMRRR, Skill Development, Science and Technology and Cooperatives.

During the deliberations, the Chief Minister directed officials to accelerate implementation and ensure transparency and efficiency in execution of projects and welfare initiatives.

He also announced that another review exercise would be conducted in June to assess further progress on Budget announcements.

Emphasising the importance of translating Budget promises into tangible outcomes on the ground, the Chief Minister said all implementation measures must be carried out in a time-bound manner to fulfil commitments made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
