SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Budgam district have solved a theft case registered at Police Station Chadoora, recovering stolen copper utensils worth around Rs 40,000 and apprehending those involved.

According to police, the case pertains to FIR No. 32/2026 registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the investigation, police conducted multiple raids at various locations, including shops, to trace the stolen property.

Acting on specific human intelligence, a police team led by Head Constable Javaid Ahmad carried out a search operation at Main Chowk Wathoora, resulting in the recovery of the stolen utensils from a local shop.

The shopkeeper, identified as Abdul Rehman Bhat, a resident of Hanjigund, was taken into custody. During questioning, he revealed that he had purchased the items from a juvenile who claimed to be in financial distress.

Subsequent investigation led to the identification and apprehension of two juveniles involved in the theft, which occurred on the intervening night of February 26 and 27, 2026. Both have admitted their involvement.

Police said all accused have been taken into custody and legal proceedings have been initiated. The recovered property has been seized as per procedure, and further investigation is ongoing.
