Handwara: A blood donation camp was organised at the Court Complex Handwara on Thursday by the Bar Association Handwara in collaboration with Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara, with the objective of promoting voluntary blood donation and raising awareness about its life-saving significance.

The camp witnessed active participation from members of the legal fraternity, court staff, and the general public, who donated blood in large numbers, reflecting a strong sense of social responsibility and community service.

Medical Superintendent of GMC Handwara, Dr. Aijaz Ahmad, who attended the event as the chief guest, lauded the efforts of the organisers and underscored the importance of regular blood donation. He noted that a single unit of blood has the potential to save multiple lives and urged the public, particularly the youth, to contribute actively to such humanitarian initiatives.

Representatives of the Bar Association Handwara stated that the programme was aimed at fostering a spirit of service and compassion within society. They also expressed appreciation for the support extended by the medical team of GMC Handwara in ensuring the smooth conduct of the camp.

A specialised team from the Department of Transfusion Medicine and Blood Centre, GMC Handwara, managed the proceedings, adhering to all prescribed medical protocols. Proper screening, hygiene standards, and safe blood collection procedures were strictly maintained to ensure donor safety. (via. Adnan Sheikh)
